Garnetot in Calvados is the tiniest of hamlets. One farm, one church with graveyard, and one building of a size in which only two horses could be housed. It is called the Mairie, the town hall, to the left of the church in this picture. As small as it is, the Mairie has a Memorial plate, commemorating three local men, 'enfants mort pour la Patrie'. It is a measure of the suffering of the people of France in three wars with the Germans. Garnetot 060127-5
