Perhaps the phrase "despite the Army's disdain for divebombing"
can be pinned on Army trained people instead of flyers. They were the same people that were telling
us in 1940-1 ROTC courses that the Air Corps was an observation arm of the artillery and was
attached to the Signal Corps. In their mind it probably still was.
I know what that sounds like but unfortunately decisions are often
made at high levels by people that are not familiar with actual processes they are overseeing.
I want to thank Scott for, what to me, was a
wonderful article on an exquisite aircraft.
