NOTE ON DATES: IMPORTANT: For consistency, the Date is given as the date the mission TOOK OFF since the precise time of a loss is not always certain. Take Off date is unambigous and fixed in the official records, but obviously in those cases where the incident occurred before midnight UK time, then the Take Off Date will be the same as the Incident Date. Of course, most Bomber Command missions flew through midnight, therefore a Luftwaffe claim against a plane - or a locally generated crash report - may record the incident as occurring on the day following our Take Off Date. Bear this in mind when cross-referencing to our Luftwaffe Victories by Name/Date Database and other Luftwaffe sources. In some cases other sources may quote the date following our date, using locally generated reports as their source. To add to the potential for confusion, remember to take into account a Luftwaffe recorded date will be in local time, 1 hour ahead of UK time. When we discover a validated Incident Date we change our record if necessary.

To Milson on the 05th March 1942 (suburb of Palmerston North, Manawatū-Whanganui, New Zealand. Re-mustered as a driver on the 07th March 1942.

Re-mustered as a pilot under training on the 04th September 1942. No. 2 Elementary Flying Training School on the 12th October 1942 (sick leave 09th December-26th January 1943. 1st solo flight on the 05th February 1943. With No. 2 Service Flying Training School 06th February 1943. Pilots badge awarded on the 12th April 1943. Promoted to sergeant on the 05th Jone 1953. No. 2 Operational Training Unit 12th June 1943 flying the P-40. Joined 17 squadron on the 10th July 1943.

Son of Clifford John (died 03rd July 1973, age 93) and Ida Mary Dickie (née Blennerhassett - died 12th July 1980, age 88). Brother of Arthur John Dickie (born on the 28th August 1912 - died 02nd September 2010, age 98). Joined 38 squadron (19th April 1941) Son of Cecil (died 05th April 1955, age 65) and Jane Dixon (née McDonald - died 11th July 192, age 91), of Invercargill, Southland, New Zealand. A total of 425 flying hours logged andon his 06th operational sortie.

Born on the 12th August 1919 air Dublin, Eire. Moved to New Zealand at an early age. Educated at Sacred Heart College in Auckland. Enlisted in the RNZAF at Levin on the 18th December 1939. Training with No. 2 Elementary Flying Training School on the 15th January 1940 the with No. 2 Flying Training School on the 08th April 1940. Pilots badge was awarded on the 10th June 1940 and commissioned on the 27th July 1940.

Embarked for England on the 11th of August 1940. Further training at 57 Operational Training Unit on the 19th October 1940. Joined 258 squadron on the 02nd December 1940. Was to leave for Malta but diverted due to the sinking of the Ark Royal to travel by sea to the Gold Coast and then by air to Sudan. So left on the carrier HMS Indomitable leaving England on the 01st November 1940. Flew off the ship near Christmas Island to Java on the 28th of January 1942.

258 squadron was then absorbed by 232 and 605 squadron, Fl/Lt. Dobbyn joining 605. Son of Joseph John and Alice Mary Dobbyn (née Tuite), of Grey Lynn, Auckland, New Zealand. Credited with 1 enemy aircraft destroyed. Very good friends with Nelson Blake after initially training with him.

Joined 12 squadron from 1662 Operational Training Unit on the 03rd June 1943. Son of Alfred and Karin Elida Doel (née ASjooman, of Taihape, Wellington, New Zealand. A total of 741 flying hours logged and killed on his 40th operational sortie, but his first with 12 squadron.

Spitfire V and IX ace Sicily Italy 1943-1944 725(Sqn ORB Shores)

Eric Doherty was a student at the time of his enlistment with the RNZAF in September 1941. Trained with 53 Operational Training Unit. Also served in No. 5 Pilots Advanced Flying Unit. Returned to 53 OTU as an instructor in October 1944.

Served with 242 Squadron in North Africa, Italy, Syria, Corsica Served- WW2- Fighter Command in North Africa, Middle East, Italy, England. Was credited with seven victories, others damaging many vehicles and ships destroyed or damaged. DFM DFC (US).

Left the RNZAF in October 1945. Joined the RNZAF Territorials in December 1948. Shortly after he retired from the Insurance business de was involved in a car accident whilst visiting in Australia and died on the 19th June 1980. Buried at Southport Lawn Cemetery, Queensland, Australia.

DFM Award dated 25th November 1944. 'For extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flights from Corsica under American Command June 19th,1944'.

Born in Wellington on the 4th November 1919. Educated at Wellington Technical College. Employed by New Zealand Slippers Limited at Lower Hutt. Enlisted in Levin on the 21st December 1941. Joined 2 Service Flying Training School on the 04th April 1942. Awarded his wings on the 15th June 1942 and promoted to sergeant on the 17th of October 1942.
