NOTE ON DATES: IMPORTANT: For consistency, the Date is given as the date the mission TOOK OFF since the precise time of a loss is not always certain. Take Off date is unambigous and fixed in the official records, but obviously in those cases where the incident occurred before midnight UK time, then the Take Off Date will be the same as the Incident Date. Of course, most Bomber Command missions flew through midnight, therefore a Luftwaffe claim against a plane - or a locally generated crash report - may record the incident as occurring on the day following our Take Off Date. Bear this in mind when cross-referencing to our Luftwaffe Victories by Name/Date Database and other Luftwaffe sources. In some cases other sources may quote the date following our date, using locally generated reports as their source. To add to the potential for confusion, remember to take into account a Luftwaffe recorded date will be in local time, 1 hour ahead of UK time. When we discover a validated Incident Date we change our record if necessary.

Husband of Gwendoline Kathleen Franklin(nee Potter, later Broughton), of Finchley, Middlesex, England. A total of 468 flying hours logged and on his 02nd operational sortie.

Enlisted at Levin on the 12th April 1941. Initial training with No. 3 Elementary Flying Training School on the 25th May 1941. Embarked for Canada on the 22nd July 1941. Further pilot training with No. 4 Service Flying Training School on the 21st August 1941. Pilots badge awarded and promoted to sergeant on the 02nd January 1942.

Embarked for England on the 23rd January 1942. Attached to No. 2 Operational Training Unit on the 26th May 1942 flying the Beaufighter.Embarked for Nigeria on the 24th August 1942 then by air to Egypt via Sudan arriving 22nd September 1942. Then by air to Malta on the 12th October 1942. Finally attached to 227 squadron on the 14th October 1942. Son of Albert (died 07th November 1961, age 66) and Winifred Emily Franklin (died 21st March 1969 age 74), of Bay View, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. A total of 258 flying hours logged and on his 15th operational sortie.

Enlisted in the RNZAF at Levin on the 15th January 1940. Trained at No. 1 Elementary Flying Training School. Pilots badge awarded on the 10th June 1940 and promoted to sergeant on the 27th July 1940. Embarked for England on the 11th August 1940. Joined 218 squadron on the 10th February 1941. Son of Donald William and Marion Beasley Fraser (nee Gould) of Napier, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. 427 flying hours logged and on his 22nd operational sortie. Highly commended whilst flying as second pilot, for a wheels up landing on return from an operation to Hamburg on the 13/14th March 1941. The captain of the aircraft was wounded and the aircraft had been seriously damaged during the operation

Born on the 12th July 1916 in Scotland, moving to New Zealand at an early age. Worked as a clerk for R and W Holly Ltd at Auckland prior to service. Enlisted on the 29th September 1940 at Levin. After completing ground training at Levin on the 26th October 1940 promoted to Leading Aircraftsman. Trained at No. 2 Elementary Flying Training School joining on the 26th October and then to No. 3 Flying Training School joining on the 20th December 1940. Pilots badge awarded on the 10th February 1941 and promoted to sergeant on the 22nd March 1941. Embarked for England on the 29th April 1941. Further training on the Master at No. 9 Service Flying Training School.

Son of Joseph Hall Fyvie (died 06th November 1973, age 71) and of Jean Fyvie (nee Clark - died 04th October 1972). Husband of Charlotte May Fyvie (nee Doel - died 19th September 2004), of Epsom, Auckland City, New Zealand. Her brother Fl/Lt. Alfred William Doel NZ/39907 RNZAF was listed as missing - believed killed on the 12th June 1943 flying Lancaster III DV157 PH-Z along with 5 other crew members, 1 survived as a PoW. A total of 208 flying hours logged.

Citation - Distinguished Flying Cross 06th November 1944: 'F/O. Gall has taken part in many operational sorties, including several photographic reconnaissances. His tenacity, skill and courage have been at all times outstanding and he has achieved some excellent results. On one occasion recently, Flying Officer Gall was forced to leave his aircraft by parachute when over France. Despite this trying experience he has continued to display undiminished enthusiasm for operational flying'.

Son of Adam Frederick Charles Gall (Died 03rd December 1958, age 72) and Christina (Died 03rd December 1958, age 69) Gall, sister of Aileen Alexander Close (née Gall - born 16th October 1921 - died 1984) of Ngaruawahia, New Zealand. Trained at No. 10 Service Flying Training School, Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada. Awarded pilot badge and promoted to sergeant on the 25th September 1941. Member of the ‘Caterpillar Club’. Passed away at Warkworth on the 01st June 1971, age just 50. Buried at Purewa Cemetery, Meadowbank, Auckland, New Zealand on the 05th August 1971.
