NOTE ON DATES: IMPORTANT: For consistency, the Date is given as the date the mission TOOK OFF since the precise time of a loss is not always certain. Take Off date is unambigous and fixed in the official records, but obviously in those cases where the incident occurred before midnight UK time, then the Take Off Date will be the same as the Incident Date. Of course, most Bomber Command missions flew through midnight, therefore a Luftwaffe claim against a plane - or a locally generated crash report - may record the incident as occurring on the day following our Take Off Date. Bear this in mind when cross-referencing to our Luftwaffe Victories by Name/Date Database and other Luftwaffe sources. In some cases other sources may quote the date following our date, using locally generated reports as their source. To add to the potential for confusion, remember to take into account a Luftwaffe recorded date will be in local time, 1 hour ahead of UK time. When we discover a validated Incident Date we change our record if necessary.



Our hosting service imposes a 4-character search minimum for database tables. We have modified our databases to support 3-character name searches.

Add 'x' to 3-character name: e.g. to search for 'coe' put 'coex' in search box, for 'fox' put 'foxx'.

At 02:34 the aircraft crashed in the Kliplev Moor killing all onboard. Also claimed by Flak of 2 & 3/schw Flak Abt 306 (o) (Halifax near Kliplev 02:30 in co-operation with Nachtjagd). victory confirmed for Hptm Raht by RLM on 19 June 1944. Son of Mike Mitchell Tycoles (remarried in 1961 to Mary Berezowski - died 1990, age 82 - he diied 1987, age 87) and Mary Tycoles (née Szmon - died 15th July 1960, age 56), broth of John, alter, Ernest, Helen, Fred (his twin sister Kathlene died in infancy) of Gilbert Plain, Manitoba, Canada Tycoles Lake, Saskatchewan was named after him and the family placed a plaque in 2001.

Paradie Archive DatabaseBorn on the 02nd January 1917 in Sheffield, England. Moved to Canada when was aged 18 months. Educated at the Prince of Wales Public School and Sandwich Collegiate in Windsor. A member of the Border Cities Aero Club and completed 5 solo flying hours with a further 12 hours dual. Worked as a had been a shipping and invoicing clerk for Christie, Brown Co. Ltd, Windsor.

Enlisted at Windsor on the 06th June 1940. Trained at No. 1 Initial Training School, No. 7 Elementary Flying Training School, No. Service Flying Training School. Pilot badge awarded on the 20th December 1940 and promoted to sergeant. Posted to Canadian Forces Station ,Trenton, Ontario for a Flying Instructor's Course on the 23rd December 1940 - 24th February 1941. Posted to No. 9 Service Flying Training School, Summerside, as an instructor. 23rd February 1941 to 31st March1942. Received his commission on the 01st March 1942. Arrived in England on the 15th June 1943.Joined 263 squadron on the 08th November 1943

Son of James Arthur (died 22nd November 1969, age 84) and Minnie Unwin (née Gosnay - died 26th, July 1984, age 98). He had two older sisters, Minnie, 35 and Cora, 28. of 365 Rankin Boulevard, Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Husband of Evelyn Unwin,(née Paris - married on the 17th Mat 1941) They had a daughter, Marlys Ann Unwin, who was born and died on the 08th May 1943, Oof 117 Crawford Avenue, Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Epitaph: He Gave His Life In The Cause Of Freedom. Not A Day Do We Forget You In Our Hearts You Are Always Near We Who Love You Dearly Sadly Missed You More Each Year'.
