NOTE ON DATES: IMPORTANT: For consistency, the Date is given as the date the mission TOOK OFF since the precise time of a loss is not always certain. Take Off date is unambigous and fixed in the official records, but obviously in those cases where the incident occurred before midnight UK time, then the Take Off Date will be the same as the Incident Date. Of course, most Bomber Command missions flew through midnight, therefore a Luftwaffe claim against a plane - or a locally generated crash report - may record the incident as occurring on the day following our Take Off Date. Bear this in mind when cross-referencing to our Luftwaffe Victories by Name/Date Database and other Luftwaffe sources. In some cases other sources may quote the date following our date, using locally generated reports as their source. To add to the potential for confusion, remember to take into account a Luftwaffe recorded date will be in local time, 1 hour ahead of UK time. When we discover a validated Incident Date we change our record if necessary.



Our hosting service imposes a 4-character search minimum for database tables. We have modified our databases to support 3-character name searches.

Add 'x' to 3-character name: e.g. to search for 'coe' put 'coex' in search box, for 'fox' put 'foxx'.

To search on squadron, append 'Sqn'. Examples: '72Sqn' or '416Sqn'

DFC citation:
No. 229 Squadron. This Officer is a determined fighter who has led his formation with exceptional Skill. On the 17th October, 1942, he shot down a Me109. Shortly afterwards he saw, in the sea, one of his fellow pilots who had baled out. 'Againtst guiding a rescue launch to the spot, his aircraft w as attacked by three enemy fighters but he drove them off. Although running short of petrol he did not return to base until he observed that the pilot had been picked up. This officer, whose courageous leadership has been most inspiring, has destroyed nine enemy aircraft.

Son of Allan Campbell Parkinson and Vera Dorethea (née Bone) Father of Val Temple (died on the 21st August 1990, age 72) and a son. Had a daughter with Joan Hamilton Robson (née Green - ]died on 30 May 1967, in Gordon, New South Wales, Australia, age 45 (two children, Lynette Francis, died on 25 February 1954, in New South Wales, Australia, age 0, and Campbell Robson died in September 2012, in One Mile, New South Wales, Australia, age 56)
