NOTE ON DATES: IMPORTANT: For consistency, the Date is given as the date the mission TOOK OFF since the precise time of a loss is not always certain. Take Off date is unambigous and fixed in the official records, but obviously in those cases where the incident occurred before midnight UK time, then the Take Off Date will be the same as the Incident Date. Of course, most Bomber Command missions flew through midnight, therefore a Luftwaffe claim against a plane - or a locally generated crash report - may record the incident as occurring on the day following our Take Off Date. Bear this in mind when cross-referencing to our Luftwaffe Victories by Name/Date Database and other Luftwaffe sources. In some cases other sources may quote the date following our date, using locally generated reports as their source. To add to the potential for confusion, remember to take into account a Luftwaffe recorded date will be in local time, 1 hour ahead of UK time. When we discover a validated Incident Date we change our record if necessary.

Born on the 28th November 1916 at Dunedin. Prior to service worked as a carpenter for Residential Construction Company. Enlisted at Levin on the 04th May 1941. Embarked for Canada on the 14th August 1941. Awarded his pilots badge and commissioned on the 21st November 1941. Embarked for West Africa on the 30 July 1942 then by air to Egypt via Nigeria and Sudan on the 11-14th September 1942. Joined 227 squadron on the 19th September 1942. Son of Alexander Chapman McGregor and of Janet Wilson McGregor (nee Dunlop), of Orakei, Auckland, New Zealand. A total of 468 flying hours logged. Completed 46 operational sorties.

The brother of Fl/Lt. McGregor DFC, 27 year old P/O. John Dunlop McGregor NZ/403465 RNZAF missing believed killed on the 29th July 1942. He was the pilot of a Stirling I N6069 with 1651 Heavy Conversion Unit on an operation to Hamburg, all 8 crew were lost without trace. P/O. McGregor had completed a tour with 281 Squadron and had been acting as an instructor with 651 HCU. He had completed 35 operational sorties at the time of his loss.

Born on there 31st May 1918 in Otahuhu. Educated at Maramarua School. A freezer worker for Auckland Farmers Freezing Company. Enlisted at Levin on the 31st August 1941. Trained in Canada and awarded his W/Op/Air/Gnr licence on the 22nd June 1941 and promoted to sergeant. Awarded his commission on the 22nd June 1942. Joined 3 squadron in March 1944 and left for the Pacific on the 18th May 1944. A total of 955 flying hours logged and on his second South Pacific tour.

Son of Alexander and Violet Ruth McInnes. Husband of Betty McInnes (née Sewell), of Mount Eden, Auckland, New Zealand, father of a son.

Served 10 months in territorial army before enlisting at Levin on the 17th May 1940 as aircrafthand under training. Initial training at No. 2 Elementary Flying Training School commencing on the 03rd June 1940. Ohakea 24 May 41 where he trained on Hawker Hinds and Airspeed Oxfords. Initial Training Wing on the 02nd March 1941. Remustered as a pilot under training on the 03rd March 1944. Further training at No. 2 Elementary Flying Training School commencing on the 12th April 1941 to No. 3 Flying Training School on the 24th May 1941. Pilot badge awarded on the 17th June 1941 and promoted to sergeant on the 10th August 1941.

Embarked for England on the 31st August 1941 arrived 19th October 1941 at No. 3 Personnel Reception Centre. No. 9 Service Flying Training School on the 22nd November 1941 training on the Miles Master. No. 1 Anti-Aircraft Co-operation Unit on the 09th March 1942 flying the Hawker Henley aircraft. With 57 Operational Training Unit on the 22nd September 1942. No. 12 Pilots Advanced Flying Unit on the 22nd November 1942. Promoted to Fl/Sgt on the 01st December 1942. No. 13 Operational Training Unit on the 06th April 1943. No. 307 Ferry Training Unit on the 28th July 1943. Awarded commission on the 27th November 1943. Joined 107 squadron on the 15th February 1944. 2 Group Leadership course 17-25th August 1944, then returned to squadron.

Pilot badge awarded on the 04th April 1942 and commissioned on the 13th June 1942. To No. 2 Service Flying Training School as staff pilot on the 16th September 1942.

Born on the 20th September 1917 at Carolelis, Moss-side, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Worked as a farmer for W.A. Gault at Opotiki prior to service. Enlisted on the 06th May 1942 at Hobsonville. Embarked for Canada on the 12th February 1943. Awarded his air gunner badge and promoted to sergeant on the 10th March 1944. Embarked for England on the 04th April 1944.Further training with No. 11 Operational Training Unit flying on Wellingtons then to No. 1657 Heavy Conversion Unit on the 03rd August 1944 on Stirlings. Joined 214 squadron on the 20th September 1944. Son of Patrick and Catherine McLaughlin (née Gillan) and husband of Phyllis Mona McLaughlin (née Potts - later Mathews) Her brother, P/O. Donald Norman Potts NZ/412267 RNZAF was listed as missing believed killed flying as second pilot on 75 squadron Wellington III X3557during a raid on Wilhelmshaven on the 08/09 July 1942. A total of 160 flying hours logged. On his 3rd operational sortie.

Born on the 07th April 1921 at Paisley, Scotland. Family emigrated in 1922. Worked as a golf club maker for Sportsply Limited prior to service. After 3 months in the territorial army he enlisted in the RNZAF on the 27th March 1942 at Rongotai. Awarded his pilots badge and promoted to sergeant and also received his commission on the 25th June 1943 after training in Canada. Son of John and Elizabeth McLean (née Palmer) of Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. Later Grey Lynn, Auckland, Brother of Jack and Nell McLean. Had at the time of his loss a total of 487 hours in his log book, but this his only 2nd operation after joining the squadron on the 10th July 1944 from 3 Lancaster Finishing School.
