NOTE ON DATES: IMPORTANT: For consistency, the Date is given as the date the mission TOOK OFF since the precise time of a loss is not always certain. Take Off date is unambigous and fixed in the official records, but obviously in those cases where the incident occurred before midnight UK time, then the Take Off Date will be the same as the Incident Date. Of course, most Bomber Command missions flew through midnight, therefore a Luftwaffe claim against a plane - or a locally generated crash report - may record the incident as occurring on the day following our Take Off Date. Bear this in mind when cross-referencing to our Luftwaffe Victories by Name/Date Database and other Luftwaffe sources. In some cases other sources may quote the date following our date, using locally generated reports as their source. To add to the potential for confusion, remember to take into account a Luftwaffe recorded date will be in local time, 1 hour ahead of UK time. When we discover a validated Incident Date we change our record if necessary.



Our hosting service imposes a 4-character search minimum for database tables. We have modified our databases to support 3-character name searches.

Add 'x' to 3-character name: e.g. to search for 'coe' put 'coex' in search box, for 'fox' put 'foxx'.

Son of William (died 1932, age 51) and Mary Agnes Inglis (née Ridler/Smith - died 15th March 1917, age 31) foster son of Mrs. Rose Retter (née Rasmussen - died 14th November 1983, age 88), of Ruaroa, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. 150 flying hours logged and thought to be on his 7th operational sortie.

Also remembered on family grave at Taita Old Cemetery, Naenae. Born on the 19th June 1920 at Hastings. He had been picked as Captain to the NZ Under 21 Team to Australia when war intervened. Worked as a compositor for Whitcombe and Tombs in Wellington. Enlisted on the 15th March 1941 at Levin. Embarked for Canada on the 26th May 1941. Awarded air gunner badge and promoted to sergeant 22nd November 1941.

Embarked for England on the 13th December 1941. After serving with various units joined 11 Operational Training Unit on the 15th May 1942. Joined 75 squadron on the 12th August 1942. Son of Frederick Joseph Jarvis (died 10th October 1964, age 75), and of Blanche Jarvis (née Ball - died 21st April 1971, age 79 - both buried at Taita Old Cemetery, Naenae), of Hastings, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. A total of 95 flying hours logged and on his 03rd operational sortie.
