Fokker D-8

Orlando Florida
September 2002

This is a remarkable airplane. It was a fighter by Anthony Fokker, brought out too late to be a significant factor in World War I.
It had a rotary engine (not a Wankel) and a parasol mounted. cantilever single wing. This was revolutionary in its day.

Kermit Weeks has an aerodrome south of Orlando with a tremendous museum of legendary aircraft called "Fantasy of Flight".

Most are in flying condition as is this one. If you look at the photograph you can see that the prop is spinning. Mr. Weeks is in the cockpit and flew it for us. It was the second time he had flown this plane.

If you go to Orlando and miss this attraction you have missed the greatest attraction in the Orlando area!
