REASON FOR LOSS:
Flying out of RAF Northolt, 12 Spitfires from 306 Squadron and two RAF Squadrons led by Nowierski escorted 117 B-17s on an attack on Lille.
306 Squadron entered a battle with Luftwaffe fighters shooting down 3 destroyed and a further 2 probables.
Sgt. Kordasiewicz was hit during the battle, managed to nurse his Spitfire back over the Channel but was killed during a crash landing at Sholden, Kent.
