There is a rogue group of copyright infringers who have stolen a much earlier version of my data - from at least 10 years ago - and have the affrontery to publish that, along with using my name, on their poorly researched website. They claim this is the 'original' Kracker Archive, a ridiculous claim since my Archive has been in a state of continuous development for over 30 years and nobody - NOBODY - has the original. They have no right to use my name or my data and readers who come across this nonsense should do nothing to encourage theft of this nature. I am outraged by this blatant theft and misrepresentation of my lifetime's work. The ONLY person I have ever authorized to publish my data and use my name is Kelvin Youngs, who earned my trust and respect many years ago and is authorized by me to publish my work on whichever website he organizes, currently this being its present home at the highly respected Aircrew Remembered.

Added: POW 2 April, 1945 when his 109 was sd over the Western Front the same day as his one victory. Alternate spelling Thiel (LOCS).

KilledInAction (KIA) 22 April, 1943; sd by Soviet fighters while attacking the port of Novorossisk and crashed into the Black Sea. Three parachutes were seen approximately 20km south of Anapa, about 3km offshore. A rescue operation was begun, but only the unnamed R/O was saved. Remaining crew (KilledInAction (KIA)): Fw Günther Heins, Obs; Uffz Wilhelm Pratorius, Flt Engr and Uffz Hans Deutsch, Gnr. (Kaiser RK book). Over 400 combat missions over England and the Soviet Union. Another source says he died in Soviet captivity.

KilledInAction (KIA) 14 July, 1944, shot down by Russian AA fire near Kobryn, east of Brest-Litovsk while strafing Soviet columns in his Fw 190A-8. He managed to bail, but was killed when he was too low for his chute to deploy properly. All victories in the East. His first known Soviet victory, a Pe-2 1 km W of Dobanno on 6 July, 1942. Two Soviet P-40s over Volokolansk on 29 October, 1942. A P-40 and four Il-2s in the Ratbosh area on 4 December, 1942. Four Pe-2s on 23 February, 1943. Three Il-2s, a Pe-2 and a LaGG-5 on 24 February, 1943. A Yak-7 on 8 June, 1943. Two Il-2s on 10 June, 1943. A LaGG-3 on 6 July, 1943. A Yak-1, two Il-2s and a LaGG-5 on 11 July, 1943. A LaGG-5 and a Yak-1 on 12 July, 1943. Two Il-2s on 13 July, 1943. Five Il-2s (m.H.) on 23 June, 1944. Two Pe-2s on 25 June, 1944. 300+ combat missions. Bowers/Lednicer, 76 victories.

Although the Given names were no provided by the source, the given names in the following crew names match the VDK records. Remaining crew: No Observer mentioned; Uffz Benker, R/O (WIA & Ret'd); Uffz Gerhard Thiel, Flt Engr (KilledInAction (KIA)) and Ogefr Albert Winkler, Gnr (KilledInAction (KIA)). Graves of the deceased are believed to exist at Demyansk, and they are commemorated at Korpowo, Russia (D.Drury).

Wigglesworth and Flt/Sgt L.G.Batt, while on a reconnaissance mission over airfields in Bournemouth, Bristo, Oxford and Portsmouth. The AC was shot down and crash-landed at Nutford Farm, 1 mile north of Blandford, Dorset at 15:00 hours. The AC of C.T.Davies was damaged by the Dorniers return fire.
