The crew had been ordered to evacuate as many as possible from Windau to Kiel, however, they lost their direction in bad weather. Blum saw the harbor lights and thought it a safe harborand landed at 0500 hours. The passengers had been members of the 2nd Flak Abt.127, under the command of Oblt Claus Winkler of Nachrichtenabt-41. Winkler remained interned until 27 January, 1946, when he was permitted to return to West Germany. 26 of the 37 were turned over to the Russians as POWs, only 14 were returned from the East.
