Due to rough seas, the Do 24 was unable to take off, and both crews were subsequently rescued by U-83 (Added: under Kptlt Hans-Werner Kraus who received the Iron Cross for rescuing both crews, he had to dive 5 times on the 3 days tour back among them an 8h dive (CKönig).
