What is really interesting are his glasses which with he flew (attached with a rubber strap, he even flew Stuka missions according to confirmed documents) - this was a rare exception for flying personnel!

He was awarded the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes on April 26, 1945 as Hauptmann in Nahaufklärungsgruppe 5 (led by Major Hermann Schmidt) for the extraordinary effort he displayed at Cirava (Kurland), although I did not get information about what his business was like. One type of aircraft he had piloted was Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 / U3. Baader was promoted to Oberfeldwebel on January 25, 1943, Leutnant on April 16, 1944, and Hauptmann on April 26, 1945 (together with his gift of the Ritterkreuz). Other medals and awards he received: Flugzeugführerabzeichen; Eisernes Kreuz II.Klasse and I.Klasse; Dienstauszeichnung der Wehrmacht III.Klasse; Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42 (1942); Luftwaffe Ehrenpokale für Besondere Leistungen im Luftkrieg (January 25, 1943); Frontflugspange für Aufklärer in Gold; and the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold (April 16, 1944) | ![]()
