Oblt Wehmeyer landed alongside his wreckage and found Kaschka dying and his gunner, Uffz Mühlhauser (or Mühlhausen) already dead. One known Desert victory, a Hurricane on 19 January, 1941. Added: Their ac was sd by a Hurricane piloted by Sgt James "Hamish" Dodds. Maj Kaschka is buried in the german War Cem. in Tobruk, Libya, no location provided by the VDK (D.Drury).

His gunner, Uffz Karl-Heinz Biwer (born 10/11/19 in Distelhausen, CK), was also killed. His first known victory, during the Battle of Britain, a Spitfire over England on 18 August, 1940. A 2nd, a Hurricane over England on 31 August, 1940. A 3rd, another Spitfire over England on 3 September, 1940. A 4th, a Hurricane over England on 26 September, 1940. His 5th, a Spitfire on 27 September, 1940, no location. 5 victories in the Desert; a Hurricane on 10 April, 1941, a Hurricane on 24 November, 1941, and including a Hurricane (this may have actually been a P-40 of SAAF No. 5 Sq.) on 27 May, 1942, a Boston over Derna on 29 May, 1942, and a Wellington on 31 May, 1942. All victories in the West. Added: Uffz (later OFw) Wüst, his Radop, flew on the last night missions on 29/05 and 30/05. He survived the war and later stated that Wehmeyer was most probable also overtired since both agreed to fly both day AND night attacks. By the time of his death Wehmeyer had flown over 200 missions.
