There is a rogue group of copyright infringers who have stolen a much earlier version of my data - from at least 10 years ago - and have the affrontery to publish that, along with using my name, on their poorly researched website. They claim this is the 'original' Kracker Archive, a ridiculous claim since my Archive has been in a state of continuous development for over 30 years and nobody - NOBODY - has the original. They have no right to use my name or my data and readers who come across this nonsense should do nothing to encourage theft of this nature. I am outraged by this blatant theft and misrepresentation of my lifetime's work. The ONLY person I have ever authorized to publish my data and use my name is Kelvin Youngs, who earned my trust and respect many years ago and is authorized by me to publish my work on whichever website he organizes, currently this being its present home at the highly respected Aircrew Remembered.

Russian POW, 7 July, 1941. His fighter was rammed by a MiG-3 flown by Lt. Anatoliy Morozov in the Tigkina area. Morozov actually captured Bergmann after successfully bailing from the wreckage. His first known victory, a Blenheim in the Lanvik (Norway?) area on 31 July, 1940. Magnus Report, 10 victories.

No mention of crew disposition. Wekusta Loss List. Added: The ac crashed shortly after takeoff, it's port engine on fire, killing the entire crew. Destroyed 21 Soviet tanks, 2 munition trains and five British transport ships (2 off Malta), 8 bridges and numerous artillery & flak guns. Served in all theaters. MIA 7 August, 1944 in Wk# 140320 when he and his crew, R/O Fw Günter Hauthal and Gnr Fw WilhelmSchopp, failed to return from a mission near Avranches in the invasion area. All buried Marigny. He crashed his G-4 Wk# 5334 north of Harderwijk Holland on 22 June, 1943 due to enemy fire, crew WIA, an Oblt at the time (DeSwart & Bf 110 Loss List). Added: Two addnl crew: Fw G.Hautel, R/O and Ogefr H.Fritsch, Gnr, also wounded (SGLO). 135 combat missions. All 36 victories were night victories. One known, perhaps his 1st, a Whitley V 10 km south of Verdun on 20 September, 1942. Another, a Stirling 2 km east of Laon on 29 November, 1942, while in 7/NJG-3. A Halifax II SW of Caen on 12 November, 1943. One Lancaster & 6 Halifax over France on 11 April, 1944. On 21 April, 1944, he scored 7 victories over Lancasters. Three Lancaster in the St Dizier/Toul area on 27 April, 1944. Another multiple victory of six on 4 May, 1944. Bowers/Lednicer, 36 victories. Photo Alternate spelling: Bergemann (DeSwart). Added: Ritterkreuz awarded after achieving about 30 night victories. He particularly distinguished himself by having 2 very successful nights of combat. On the night of the 11.04.1944 he achieved 7 night victories, and another 6 were achieved on the night of the 04/05/44. (CK)

Remaining crew (recovered from behind lines): Uffz Arno Werner (Co-Pilot); Ogefr Bernhard Brodatzki, R/O; and Uffz Walter Scholz, Flt Engr. The pilot believed responsible for their rescue may have been Lt Werner Utter. Earlier, on 14 June, 1942, Lt Bergmann was involved in a crash landing following AA fire at Luga, S of Lenningrad. Remaining crew: Stfkpt Hptm Karl Otto Hesse, Obs; Ogefr Bernhard Brodatzki, R/O; and Uffz Walter Scholz, Flt Engr. Three of the four known to survive the crash (D.Drury & DK-G Awards List). Oblt Bergmann declared deceased 21 May, 1970.

He flew the Lead Pathfinder AC, the Ju 88G-6 (Wk# unk) on the 1 January, 1945 raid on Brussels-Evere Allied airfield and made an emergency landing at Nordhorn after being hit by flak on outward route. One known victory, a "4 mot" 30 km SW of Echterdingen on 15 March, 1944. A Wellington SW of Rome on 4 June, 1944. A Halifax SW of Russelheim on 26 August, 1944. A "4 mot" 20 km SSW of Darmstadt on 12 September, 1944. A Lancaster 15 km N of Heilbronn on 4 December, 1944. Victories 7,8 & 9 were Lancasters on 23 February, 1945, two near Tubingen and one SW of Freudenstadt, all within minutes. Deceased 8 July, 2000. Added: Bunje's crew on 12 September, 1944: Uffz Wiemann, Obs; Fw Bergmann, R/O and Ogefr Ambs, Gnr (C.König).
