An earlier incident, another He 219 crashed at Wilhelminadorp Holland on 4 June, 1944, during a night simulation mission, when the port engine caught fire after being hit by fire from a Mosquito of No. 219 Sq., piloted by P/O D.T. Tull. He managed to bail out with ejection seat without injuries, 400m north of Wilhelminedorp Holland. His R/O, Ofw Heinz Gall (born 07/03/16 in Berlin, (CK) EP 18/10/42) also bailed, but his chute did not open. He is buried at Ysselsteyn, Block BA/6/136. He was 26 years old. (DeSwart, LOCS & Wings to Victory). Hptm Eicke survived the war. 300+ missions.
