His 3rd, a Spitfire over the English Channel on 5 August, 1940. He was one of the most successful fighter pilots in Spain. Shot down and lost four AC in JG-54; the E-4 above 8/4/40, an F-2 "White 1" 9/11/41 and an F-4 "White <<" 3/20/42. Downed the 4th time on 6 July, 1943 in Fw 190A-5, Werk# (150)1341 "Black <" (lost) east of Ponyri. Wounded three times, one known, 6 July, 1943. He won the DK-G on 15 October, 1941. Added: >480 combat missions (CKönig). Deceased 6 October, 1989.
