There is a rogue group of copyright infringers who have stolen a much earlier version of my data - from at least 10 years ago - and have the affrontery to publish that, along with using my name, on their poorly researched website. They claim this is the 'original' Kracker Archive, a ridiculous claim since my Archive has been in a state of continuous development for over 30 years and nobody - NOBODY - has the original. They have no right to use my name or my data and readers who come across this nonsense should do nothing to encourage theft of this nature. I am outraged by this blatant theft and misrepresentation of my lifetime's work. The ONLY person I have ever authorized to publish my data and use my name is Kelvin Youngs, who earned my trust and respect many years ago and is authorized by me to publish my work on whichever website he organizes, currently this being its present home at the highly respected Aircrew Remembered.

Our hosting service restricts database searches to a minimum of 4 characters, therefore searching on 3 or less will produce no results even if the name IS in our database. If you know the target's first name, put his full name in the first Search box in the form 'familyname, firstname' thus: Rau, Gunther.

His one known victory, a P-51D at Zutphen-Haaksbergen, near Nijmegen, on 19 September, 1944. Four days earlier, he had been a British POW (briefly) after being shot down by British AA fire behind their lines. Entered the Luftwaffe in 1942, pilot training in 1943.

His Ju 88 crashed into the North Sea by Petten, off the Dutch coast (DeSwart & Wiki Luft). Remaining crew: Oblt Ludwig Blankenhahn (WIA), Obs; Fw Rolf Lampmann, Gnr (WIA) and Ofw W. Tonne, R/O (Safe) (Wiki Luft data & D.Drury). Added: 3(F)/122's 2000th mission took place on 15 June, 1943 with Zabiensky and Tonne. Blankenhahn and Lampmann missed this milestone due to their injuries on the night of 12/13 June, 1943. He was injured 26 March, 1942 when his Klemm crash landed in the vicinity of Laval after making involuntary ground contact. WIA 1 September, 1941 when his Hs 126 was damaged by ground fire in the vicinity of Truwtschewski (LOCS).

His body was recovered in 1967 by a Dutch recovery team, still at the controls of his Fw 190 "Black 5", 15 ft. down in the Pieperpolder near Genemuiden, Holland. WIA 27 March, 1942 in aerial combat. Made a hard landing at Ardres due to engine damage. 371 missions, 17 victories in the East. His first victory, a Spitfire SE of Ramsgate on 18 August, 1940. Three Pe-2s and a MiG-3 on 13 May, 1943. Two LaGG-3s on 2 June, 1943. 11 bombers, 12 Spitfires. His first Battle of Britain victory came on 18 August, 1940. His first known Soviet victory, a Yak-4 on 21 April, 1943. A LaGG-3 on 27 May, 1943. A LaGG-5 on 28 May, 1943. 11 four engine bombers. His first Homeland Defense victory, one of the 100BG B-17s on 30 December, 1943 over Soissons. His 40th, a B-17 E of Maubeuge on 4 February, 1944. Another, a B-24 of the 392BG on 15 March, 1944. His 45th, a B-17 at Idstein-Oberüsel on 2 March, 1944. Buried at Ysselsteyn War Cemetery, TE-6-67. Their C.445 was a French ac pressed into service by the Luftwaffe. An earlier incident happened when Lt Will and Flt Engr Gefr August Dietz made an emergency landing near Berck-sur-Mer, Pas-de-Calais due to engine failure on 8 July, 1941, no further detail (D.Drury).

An 8th, an R-5 on 14 July, 1944. A 9th, a LaGG-5 on 22 August, 1944. Added: His brother Giselher and later Knights Cross holder of a tank destroyer unit Panzerjäger-Abteilung 19 was completely surrounded in summer 1943 in Russia. Suddenly, your brother appeared in the sky and helps. He repeatedly took off and performed recce missions, allowing the combat unit to move an incredible 70 km through enemy territory! The always present recce officer attacked the enemy with on-board cannons and smoke bomb signals. His brother on the ground and his unit could combine forces and was save. Both survived the war and deceased in 2007, Karl-Heinz on 21/1107, his one year older brother on 18/02/07(CK)
