There is a rogue group of copyright infringers who have stolen a much earlier version of my data - from at least 10 years ago - and have the affrontery to publish that, along with using my name, on their poorly researched website. They claim this is the 'original' Kracker Archive, a ridiculous claim since my Archive has been in a state of continuous development for over 30 years and nobody - NOBODY - has the original. They have no right to use my name or my data and readers who come across this nonsense should do nothing to encourage theft of this nature. I am outraged by this blatant theft and misrepresentation of my lifetime's work. The ONLY person I have ever authorized to publish my data and use my name is Kelvin Youngs, who earned my trust and respect many years ago and is authorized by me to publish my work on whichever website he organizes, currently this being its present home at the highly respected Aircrew Remembered.

His 3rd, a P-51 in the Schwalmstadt area on 13 September, 1944. A 4th, a B-17 in the Marnfeld area on 2 November, 1944. He was shot down this same day in a G-14 over Halle, bailing safely. His 5th, same day, another B-17 at Eisleben. A 6th, a LaGG-3 on 3 March, 1945. Added: WIA on 02/11/44 and hospitalized in Halle (CKönig). Alternate spelling: Zwittning. Added: according to a letter of parents of Herbert Zimmermann Zwittnig was killed 3 days before wars end (05/05/45) east of Berlin (CKönig). His wife remarried after the war.

His R/O while in StG-77 was Fw Heinz Sellhorn. Maj Zwipf is buried in the German War Cem. at Pomezia, Italy, Blk B, Gr 474 (D.Drury). 600+ missions, mostly with the Ju 87. Added: Knights Cross was awarded after flying 600 ground attack sorties. 500 mission (CKönig).

Werk # 07169 was shared with Alwin Doppler. Approximately 600 combat missions. 20 victories in the West. His 1st western victory, a Spitfire NE of Margate on 24 July, 1940. His first known Soviet victory, a Yak-1 on 26 August, 1942. Three Yak-1s on 31 August, 1942, one of many multiple victories. Another multiple, three LaGG-3s on 8 September, 1942. Three Il-2s on 13 September, 1942. Six victories on 22 September, 1942; two Yak-1s and four LaGG-3s. A Yak-1 and three LaGG-3s on 19 October, 1942. Three Lagg-3s, an Il-2 and an I-16 Rata on 29 November, 1942. He downed the famous Russian Ace, Lt Dimitry Glinka of 45 IAP, on 15 April, 1943, in a P-39. Victory 118 was a P-38 in the Hannover-Braunschweig area on 10 February, 1944. His 125th victory, a B-24 at Uelzen on 8 April, 1944. His 126th, a P-51 at Salzwedel, same day, and the day of his death. Photo

Bailed successfully, but reportedly killed by P-51 pilot while hanging in his chute. Prior, 7/5/41 35% damage to an unidentified F-2 over Druja and on 11/11/41, 35% damage to Wk# 12943 over Sablino. In neither incident was there a pilot disposition. On 27 July, 1943 he was wounded by B-25 return fire in his G-6 "Yel 7" over the Schiphol Holland airfield. Bailed successfully. The G-6 crashed at Noorden, SW of Mijdrecht Holland (DeSwart). 15 victories in the West. His 1st, a Blenheim 25 km NE of De Kooi on 10 November, 1940. One bomber (another source says 10 bombers). His 1st known Soviet victory, an I-153 on 22 June, 1941. An I-18 on 11 September, 1941. An Il-2 on 30 September, 1941. An I-26 on 5 November, 1941. An I-18 on 1 December, 1941. An Il-2 and an I-26 on 9 February, 1942. A Pe-2 on 4 April, 1942. A MiG-3 on 30 July, 1942. Two Soviet P-40s on 13 August, 1942. Two P-40s on 3 Sept, 1942. Russian POW until December, 1949. A Transport pilot from March to October, 1941 with 162 missions in N.Africa, the Med, and Russia, converted to Night Fighter. Shot down during aerial combat in Bf 110E-1 Werk# 3962 "D5 + DH near Cloppenburgh on 17 April, 1944. Lost another Bf 110, a G-4 model, Werk# 6219 on 25 July, 1944 due to an engine fire. All the crew bailed safely. 272 combat missions; 59 victories in 110 Night missions! All victories were Night victories. A Lancaster I of RAF No.166 Sq Serial ME636, piloted by W/O G.A.Woodcock at Müritz the night of 15-16 February, 1944. Four "4 mots" on 11 June, 1944 in the Dreux area. His long-time R/O was Fw Heinrich Wilke, a RK recipient 29 November, 1944. His 59th and last victory, a B-24 SSE of Graz on 6 March, 1945, when he served as Kdr II/NJG-100. Bowers/Lednicer, 59 victories. Last known, living in Homburg.

The Dutch Report identifies his 9/44 unit as 15/JG-11 (JG-54 seems correct). Added: His body washed up under the Ijssel bridge 3 October, 1944. His final resting place is Yssel Q-9-223 (SGLO).

His 2nd, a Lancaster at Bottrop-Recklinghausen on 12 December, 1944. Added: On 13/09/44 he flew on a mission with Fhj-Uffz Wilfried Schindler (KIA), Uffz Wolfram Horbach (KIA) Fw Johann Luthardt (KIA), Gefr Willi Stuber (KIA), Fhj-Uffz Herbert Zimmermann (KIA), Staffelführer was Oblt Ludwig Zwittnig (bailed out). Zipse managed to bail out uninjured though he was attacked on his chute by US fighters. He landed at the train station at Mecklar. According to a letter from the parents of Herbert Zimmermann Zipse was arrested by the Wehrmacht at first because he left the aircraft. He wrote twice to the parents after the air combat (CKönig).

Flew on his last mission with Fhj-Uffz Wilfried Schindler (KIA), Fw Johann Luthardt (KIA), Gefr Willi Stuber (KIA), Uffz Wolfram Horbach (KIA), Fhr Hans Zipse (bailed out), Staffelführer was Oblt Ludwig Zwittnig (bailed out). A letter from 1955 written by his parents states that he died due to the recklessness of his Staffelführer Zwittnig who urged his pilot to attack nevertheless - 60 US fighters scattered the Staffel and pursued them. The letter further mentioned that he tried to escape with Zipse and Schindler South while the other 4 planes flew North - all pursued by US fighters. His plane caught fire as a result of the enemy attack and went from 10.000m to 1.000m when the flames were extinguished. He tried to make an emergency landing behind a wooded mountain but 2 Salvos were shot him again, when a big part of the wing broke off and his 109 exploded in approx. 1000m height. The parents were first told he was MIA. His father made investigations are found the wooden cross and were told that Herberts remains were already buried 14 days earlier. Without his investigations they wouldnt have known the fate and burial site of their son (CKönig)

On 25 July, 1941, another F-2 sustained 10% damage over Sarodinje, with no injuries to Zilken. One known victory, his 1st, a Hawk-75A at Cambrai, 26 May, 1940. His 2nd, a Spitfire on 12 August, 1940, no location. His 3rd, a Hurricane near Ashford on 5 September, 1940. His first known Soviet, an I-16 Rata on 2 January, 1942. A 2nd, a I-16 Rata on 23 January, 1942. A Jager Blatt article in 1/2002, suggests his grave was found in a small Soldiers Cemetery near Tscherwino or Tscherioma. Magnus, 12 victories. Added: A student in 1939, Lt Zilken was uninjured when his Ar 76 engine failed during a climbing turn, and he made an emergency landing on the airfield taxiway at Quackenbrück. Fighter Operational Clasp		POW 25 April, 1945. Completed compulsory service in the RAD before joining the Luftwaffe. Shot down with minor injuries (no mention of the Wound Badge) on 7 September, 1941 by the rear gunner in a Wellington bomber, this while in 10/NJG-1. Hie engine quit and he bailed safely. He bailed a 2nd time on 25 September, 1942 from his Wk# 10855, SW of Wüstensachsen, 50 km SW of Thüringer Wald, due to poor visibility in bad weather. Promoted to Oblt in May 1943 at Comiso Sicily. Ziesig made a force landing in a field in the village of Villarios (Sardinia?) in Wk3 15310, after running out of fuel while over water, but having enough height to glide into the field. In October 1944, he was assigned to the paratrooper unit Hermann Göring Panzer Division. Sometime after this, he volunteered for the Rammtragers at Rosenheim, but no mention of any misions with them. He was captured by American troops in CzechoslovaKilledInAction (KIA) and released four months later. Lived in Australia after the war as commercial pilot. Deceased early 2000s. Ziems living in a retirement home in Kaufbeuren, 2013, age 90.
