REASON FOR LOSS:

Understood to have originated from Athens, Greece and refuelled at Pomigliano d'Arco in Italy,

Whilst over France they encountered a severe electrical storm and that they were hit by lightning before crashing into a hill, killing all the Polish crew members. We welcome any further information on this loss.

It is understood that M. Brian Millar and Paul Mathevet from Drôme, France had arranged a memorial to these four Polish airman and this was unveiled on the 05th June 2010 - we would welcome any further information on this loss.

Sgt. Eugeniusz Kocoń. Mazargues War Cemetery, Marseilles. Plot X. Row A. Grave 8. Born on the 20th March 1918 in Warsaw, Poland. Next of kin details not available.

W/O. Franciszek Bąk (also known as František Bonk). Mazargues War Cemetery, Marseilles. Plot X. Row A. Grave 6. Born on the 14th October in Vitazovce, Slovakia. Next of kin details not available.
