RAF Bomber Command was responsible for the Royal Air Force's bombing operations during World War II, playing a crucial role in the strategic bombing of Germany from 1936 to 1968. It conducted over 500,000 sorties and suffered a high casualty rate, with approximately 55,573 aircrew killed, making it one of the deadliest postings of the war. Bomber Command was instrumental in the strategic bombing campaign against Germany, particularly from 1942 onwards. The focus shifted to targeting industrial sites and civilian infrastructure essential for the German war effort. This approach aimed to disrupt production and lower morale among the German populace.
