Injured in a crash 15 December, 1941 due to engine failure; force landed 3 km east of the Theville airfield. Injured 18 November, 1942 after aerial combat with a B-17, 20 km northwest of Pontivy, near Leelen (Brittany). Bailed successfully; this may have been the cause of the injury, since the report does not say he was wounded. One known victory, his 1st, a Spitfire in the Armentieres area on 2 July, 1941. A 2nd, a Spitfire on 8 July, 1941, no location.

Uninjured in a crash 14 April, 1943 when he overturned on takeoff at Biserta. About 500 missions. He is known to have flown over the Normandy Invasion Front on 12 June, 1944 (Militaryaviationhistory#Luftwaffe#DDay).

The crash location was Kings Walden, Herfordshire. Remaining crew (POW): Uffz Hans Kellner, R/O; Fw Fritz Stahn, Gnr and Gefr Willibald Vogt, Flt Engr. Uffz Kircher was also taken prisoner. The referenced RAF Pilot was F/Lt Philip Charles Fenner Lawton (D.Drury).
