Firstly what is a QR code?

A machine-readable code consisting of an array of black and white squares, typically used for storing URLs or other information for reading by the camera on a smartphone, tablet or similar device. QR = 'Quick Response' code. Similar to the well known barcode used on many products but with a great deal more information.
