Location: RAF Bradwell Bay, Essex.

Pilot: F/O. Jan Krajewski VM. P-2065 PAF Age 24. - Seriously Injured

REASON FOR LOSS:

Taking off from RAF Northolt at 08:40 hrs to Bradwell Bay. landing at 09:05 hrs. Leaving shortly afterwards to escort Bombers - operation was then abandoned when they were approximately 7 miles off the Dutch coast.

During this F/O. Krajewski was hit by flak and injured. He managed to fly the undamaged aircraft back, when he then landed at Bradwell Bay. He was found to be seriously injured and taken to East Suffolk and Ipswich Hospital.

Burial Details:

None, F/O. Jan Krajewski survived the war, we understand he settled in Santa Monica, California USA. where he died on the 6th June 1993 aged just 73. He was awarded the VM. on the 5th June 1944.

Researched for relatives of the pilot. October 2015 - we are now in contact with his daughter, Madeleine Robertson who sent the correct revised photo in the cockpit. With thanks to the following for further information supplied the 1333 (Grangemouth Spitfire) Squadron and the Grangemouth Spitfire Memorial Trust who provided the webmaster with so much information and assistance during his visit.
