REASON FOR LOSS:
Taking off at 11:45 hrs on a shipping reconnaissance operation and was lost without trace. The only loss from the squadron on this day.

Enlisted at Levin on the 01st December 1940. Commenced training on the 19th January 1941 at No. 4 Elementary Flying Training School. Embarked for Canada on the 27th March 1941. Further training with No. 6 Service Flying Training School. Pilots badge awarded and promoted to sergeant on the 03rd July 1941. Embarked for England on the 15th July 1941. Joined 61 Operational Training Unit on the 17th August 1941 On the 07th October 1941 joined 152 squadron. Son of Reginald W. and Gertude Sturt of Nelson New Zealand. Husband of Phyllis Sturt, (nee Walker - later Franklin) of Chiswick, Middlesex, England.
