1943-01-27 The loss of Hudson EW919 NO-C (Van den Berg)

Crash site: North Sea near Terschellingerbank, NL

Crash cause: unknown, enemy Flak action presumed. The aircraft was last sighted from Hudson EW910 at about 03.45h, flying through the Flak coming up from the convoy attacked. An enemy fighter was seen in the area.

22/5/1940 from France after he, in a group of 24 aircraft, mostly Fokker trainers, had escaped from Holland on 14/5/1940

Remarks

He was credited with one Flakship sunk in the Feda Fjord, SE of Flekkefjord, Norway, on 31/10/1941, and one 4.000t cargo vessel sunk 10' WSW of Eierland (?) on 23/9/1942, and one cargo vessel sunk 14' SW of Den Helder, NL, on 25/11/1942

Het gedurende meer dan een jaar deelnemen aan de operaties op verschillende vliegtuigen, waarbij 385 dag- en nacht vlieguren in oorlogsopdrachten werden volbracht en herhaaldelijk, in contact met den vijand, moed, initiatief en volharding werden betoond, waardoor op succesvolle wijze aan de oorlogvoering in de lucht werd deelgenomen.
