  • On 30th-31st July 1941, Handley Page Hampden I serial AD916 of 83 Squadron RAF, based at Scampton in Lincolnshire, departed on Operation Düsseldorf. The aircraft was piloted by Flight Lieutenant Neil Hyland Svendsen DFC, with Second Pilot Flying Officer Desmond Irving, and Observer/Air Bomber Flying Officer Stanley Carter on board.
