for which we are grateful. Please contact us via our Helpdesk if you have additional information or images.

DUPLICATES EXIST IN THIS DATABASE
We have integrated entries from several databases in the Paradie Archive and as a result there may be more than one entry for a given individual. To ensure you read all the data we have on a person, use the Service Number (without the prefix J/ P/ R/ etc.) to perform a further search for more information on that person.
DATA ALIGNMENT IN PROCESS OF BEING ADJUSTED
Owing to problems with encoding methods, some records require manual adjustment to bring data elements within the record into alignment. This is a lengthy and ongoing process. If the record you are looking at is hard to read, it means we have yet to make the appropriate manual adjustments, so send us a message via the Helpdesk and we will correct that record.
SEARCHING ON SERIAL NUMBERS
Most records were originally encoded with aircraft serial numbers in the format AB 123. The standard is to use the format AB123. We have a long term project underway to change all serial numbers to the standard form, but with 50,000+ records this is a long process.
If you would like our team to research a family member or friend who appears in this database, contact us via the Helpdesk. We will send you instructions.

Our hosting service imposes a 4-character search minimum for database tables. We have modified our databases to support 3-character name searches.

Add 'x' to 3-character name: e.g. to search for 'coe' put 'coex' in search box, for 'fox' put 'foxx'.

If you need help, EMAIL us with name and database to search and we will perform the search manually for you.
To search on squadron, append 'Sqn'. Examples: '72Sqn' or '416Sqn'

Most of the objectives were located in small towns that had never been bombed before. The Operation was designed to force the Luftwaffe to defend the targets and then destroy the Luftwaffe’s fighter strength. The aircraft failed to return and was listed as MIA. Killed 1945-02-27 AgeJ/10125Pilot464Sqn (RAAF)Mosquito PZ30927Feb45 29th Operational Flight. FLTLT J.F Filteau and FLGOFF H.I Storen departed Rosières-en-Santerre, France at 1926hrs as one of eleven 464Sqn Mosquitos detailed to attack enemy lines of communications behind the front. This included bombing and strafing trains, coaches, marshalling yards, motor transport and power stations. The aircraft failed to return and was listed as MIA. Advice was received from the US Army 506th Military Police Battalion stating they responded to reports of an aircraft crash at approximately 2100hrs, one and a half miles west of Sovet, Belgium. Lt G. Wagenseil arrived on the scene soon thereafter but could not get close to the fiercely blazing wreckage plus there was a possible danger posed by unexploded bombs. At some time later faint cries for help were heard from nearby bushes and MP SGT Victor R. DeVivo discovered the very seriously injured pilot. An ambulance took FLTLT Filteau to the US Army 130th General Hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile navigator Storen, who had baled out successfully some minutes before the pilot, sustained moderate injuries and heavy concussion during his landing in an open field some miles away from the aircraft’s crash site. He took time to gather his strength and started walking until he found a road which led him to Namur, where he walked into the HQ of the US Army 296th Military Police Company at 0800hrs/28Feb. Colonel A.L Bonham-Carter was a British Liaison Officer embedded with US Forces and was immediately informed of Storen’s situation. The Colonel took control of Storen and rang HQ 2nd TAF to arrange transport and inform them of the fate of PZ309. RCAF pilot J/10125 Flight Lieutenant John Frederick Filteau (25) of Calgary in Alberta, Canada sustained serious injuries when he baled out at very low level. He was taken to the US Army 130th General Hospital in Namur, Belgium where he succumbed to his injuries and was buried in Grave No.1, Row 1, Plot E of the American Military Cemetery at Neuville-en-Condroz in Neupré, Wallonia, Belgium. He was later reinterred in Section III, Plot C Grave 6 of the Hotton War Cemetery located 58km south east of Namur, Belgium. He is commemorated on Page 514 of the Canadian Second World War Book of Remembrance in Ottawa, Canada: and, on the Canadian Bomber Command Memorial Wall in Nanton, Alberta.

FLGOFF R.A Faulafer and FLGOFF R.W Wilkins departed Gravesend at 0025hrs for an Intruder Patrol to attack the Laon/Athies airfield in the Pas de Calais, France. Aircraft loaded with 4 x 500lb MC TD Mk.IV bombs; armed with 4 x 20mm cannons and 4 x 7.77mm machine guns. The aircraft was hit by flak over the target area and failed to make it back to Base. Post war investigations by a team from the Missing Research and Enquiry Service found no trace of the aircraft or crew on French soil. The team stated the most probable explanation was the aircraft crashed into The Channel as it tried to reach Base.
