After completing the operation, the aircraft were attacked and the crew were forced to bail out. Flight Sergeant Fay showed determination and courage in evading capture and finally arrived safely back in this country. I recommend the award of the Distinguished Flying Medal” Following his evasion, F/S Fay RCAF returned to Canada where he took a pilot’s course, gaining his flying badge during October 1943. | |||||||
