This page lists all the reports on our site that are in some way related to 1940. This was the first full year of WW2 and was important for establishing that the Axis was not going to be able to steamroll its way to an easy total victory. 1940 witnessed the Battle of Britain, perhaps the decisive Allied victory of WW2, because had the Allies lost the Battle of Britain, Germany would have invaded the British Isles and it would no longer have been possible for the USA to have later intervened.
